VMware Fusion is VMware’s Mac virtualization software used primarily for running Windows applications on the Mac. Currently, VMware Fusion is VMware’s only consumer product and the only product sold in Apple Stores, Amazon, and much more.
Job Description
As Sr. Product Manager, you will be the responsible for taking VMware Fusion to the next level. The Sr. Product Manager, Mac Products, is responsible for establishing a product vision, executing the product strategy for VMware Fusion, and delivering the best possible products to the Mac market. The role requires an individual with strong leadership and analytical skills who can create a shared vision for VMware’s Mac Products.
Responsibilities
1. Define customer needs and requirements in coordination with other product managers, product marketing, and business development teams
2. Leverage customer feedback as a key component of the product planning and roadmap
3. Analyze and evaluate complementary and competitive products, technologies, and solutions
4. Develop an overall product strategy that takes advantage of VMware’s core technology, unique brand of virtualization, and market position and align Mac products with the overall company goals and vision
5. Manage the product development process from inception to product delivery. Write PRDs, deliver detailed customer use cases and UI mockups, install daily builds, work with engineering to deliver best in class features, and to ensure the successful shipment of the product in seven languages simultaneously
6. Work closely with business development, product marketing, and sales operations to manage the supply chain to ensure product availability worldwide
7. Review technical support offerings on an ongoing basis to ensure that they meet the needs of VMware’s desktop customer needs and build a strong relationship with the support teams
8. Work closely with Mac business team to drive new revenue opportunities
9. Write Reviewer’s Guides, White Papers, Competitive Analysis and other technically focused product marketing documents to aid in marketing VMware Fusion
10. Work directly with customers to understand their issues and address them
Requirements
1. BS/BA degree or equivalent technical experience
2. A minimum of 5+ years of experience in product management or product marketing experience with a consumer software company
3. Ability to work equally well with business development, product marketing, program management, sales operations, support, and engineering to drive successful product releases
4. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Strong writing skills with the ability to write clearly and quickly, to explain technical concepts to a non-technical audience. Public speaking experience and comfort
5. Strong understanding of the Mac software market greatly preferred
6. Possess a strong technical background, preferably in consumer or SMB software space
7. Demonstrates strong analytical and strategic thinking skills and the ability to translate those skills into a proven track record in delivering successful, award winning consumer or SMB software
8. Strong leader, self-starter and proven team player in a high achievement-oriented environment
9. Superior project management and prioritization skills
10. Some travel will be required
